WHO WE ARE

The Centre culturel franco-manitobain (CCFM) is located at 340 Provencher Boulevard in the heart of St. Boniface, Manitoba just minutes from downtown Winnipeg. The CCFM, with the Centre du patrimoine (Heritage Centre), is approximately 75,000 square feet and includes an art gallery, a theatre with seating for 283 people, a hall with a 600-seat capacity, another hall acommodating up to 130 people, a multipurpose room/studio as well as several meeting rooms, classrooms, office space and ample free parking.

HISTORY

In 1898, the Sisters of the Holy Name of Jesus and Mary received this site from the Archbishop of St. Boniface and built the first St. Joseph’s Academy. The Oblate Fathers purchased the building in 1913 and it became “Le Juniorat de la Sainte-Famille”. It was demolished in 1971 to permit the construction of the new Centre culturel franco-manitobain according to the plans of the architect Étienne Gaboury. The CCFM, a Manitoba Crown Corporation, was incorporated in 1972 and opened its doors on January 25, 1974.
